Multi IFR
Instrument Rules or Multi IFR
This license allows a pilot to fly under conditions of limited visibility. Students will be trained to use airplane instruments to navigate.
Minimum Training Hours:
40 hours of flight and approximately 80 hours of Ground School is required
Required Written Test:
Pre Flight Test: Pre flight tests to prepare for Transport Canada Final Test
Final Flight Test: Transport Canada Final Test that is conducted in two parts
Required Practical Test:
Pre Flight Tests: There are at least two pre flight tests to prepare students for the final Transport Canada Test. The examiners are school instructors.
Final flight Tests: The Final Transport Canada Test is conducted by official examiners of Transport Canada.
Advantageous of IFR License:
- Able to fly in limited visibility and bad weather conditions such as flying through clouds and flying in higher altitudes
- More opportunities to work as a pilot
- This license is a prerequisite of the ATPL license
Further Information:
- PPL is the prerequisite of IFR license
- If the student's health certificate has not expired there is no need for a new medical exam (Category one or three medical certificate is required)
- 20 hours of 40 hours required flight hours can be performed by a Simulator
- All IFR flight hours can be included in the overall 200 hours of flight required for CPL
