ATPL

ATPL or Airline Transport Pilot License 

Pilots interested in working for airlines must have this license; This license does not require any specific practical trainings and schools usually offer some theory and practical courses to prepare students for Transport Canada Final Test.

Minimum Training Hours: 

1500 hours of flight are required to apply for this license as well as ground school hours in PPL and CPL.

Required written Test:

Pre Flight Test: Pre flight tests to prepare for Transport Canada Final Test

Final Flight Test: Transport Canada Final Test that is conducted in two sections

Required Practical Test:

There is no required practical test.

More opportunities to work as a pilot

Further Information: 

  • PPL, CPL, Multi IFR and Night Ratings are required to apply for the ATPL license
  • If the student's health certificate has not expired there is no need for a new medical exam (Category one medical certificate is required)
